COMMUNITY ACCESS

Community Access

Many schools make facilities available for the community to use. They also offer spaces such as school halls and classrooms for further education, vocational classes and adult learning programmes. This can also include:

sports halls
gyms and fitness studios
computer suites
arts and music facilities

Hillingdon Adult Education offers hundreds of courses which can be studied throughout the day, evening and weekends.

There are centres throughout the borough and help is available in choosing the right course. Courses take place within a supportive environment where learning and personal achievement are valued. There are courses for everyone from cookery, plumbing, wine appreciation to access to higher education.

There are a variety of ways that Hillingdon Adult Education can assist you with your learning goals, including help with:

  • costs;
  • a helper to support you in class;
  • learning materials that suit your needs, for example handouts on tape;
  • someone to interpret, read or sign for you;
  • adaptive equipment, for example screen reader software when using the PC;
  • help with the skills for life in language, literacy and numeracy;
  • information and advice about current and future learning with us.

A complete outline of the courses available in 2009 can be found at your local civic centre or can be downloaded from the link below.
