We would hope that all our students
could make as great a contribution to the school's extra-curricular
work as they can. We seek to record this aspect of their
total school career so that ultimately Records of Achievement
and employers' and other references will present as full
a picture of students' life and work at Queensmead as
is possible. Those with sporting interests
and abilities have a wealth of opportunities to represent
the school in a variety of team games that form part of
the annual programme. Queensmead meets with much success
in a number of sports in Borough, Middlesex and other
inter-school competitions. Holidays to outdoor pursuits
centres are organised for students both in this country
and abroad.
In the Performing Arts, a large
number of our students receive tuition in a range of musical
instruments and regularly perform in both School and Borough
concerts. Many opportunities exist too, for students to
involve themselves in school productions either on stage
or backstage. Students have the opportunity to represent
their form in the twice termly meeting of Forum at which
motions put forward are debated and voted on. A number
of developments in the school are the result of Forum
recommendations.
Queensmead has a well established
tradition of service to the community. Senior students
gain valuable personal experience as prefects when they
receive guests to the school and show visitors around.
Post 16 students are encouraged to make a contribution
for example by giving assistance in local primary schools.
Money is
raised and donated to charities each year through a wide
range of different activities. Download the latest timetable
