Each consultation evening is either preceded by the issue
of an academic and social progress report, or alternatively,
the report will be issued at another point in the year.
Other meetings with parents
are arranged for specific purposes. For instance, following
the first few weeks
of the first term of Years 7 and 10, evenings are reserved
for parents to be able to discuss the process of their
son's or daughter's "settling-in" to a new situation.
The stage in each student's career when course choices
are made for Years 10 and 11 and when entries are made
for external examinations in Years 11, 12 and 13 are also
times when consultation with parents is arranged. Parents have also found parental information evenings very useful. At these evenings which have been scheduled for the early part of the term we give presentations explaining how children learn and how parents can help with their child’s homework. A copy of key slides from the presentation can be found here.
Help your child to learn
Parents are welcome
to contact the school at any time to discuss a matter
of concern. In the first instance parents should contact their child's Form Tutor and subsequently the Head of Year. Serious matters requiring urgent attention
will be dealt with as soon as possible by the Headteacher
or by one of the school's leadership group.
At regular intervals newsletters are sent home to all
parents containing information on educational, social
and other matters of interest.
Parent Teacher
Association - P.T.A
All parents are automatically
members of the Parent Teacher Association, Queensmead's
Parents' Team (QPT). The QPT organises a wide variety
of social functions throughout the year. The prime function
of the QPT is to raise funds in support of the various
educational activities that take place at Queensmead.
Within the last few years they have committed many thousands
of pounds to support the work of the school.

Much of the hall and stage
lighting and sound equipment have been funded by the QPT
and much support is given to extra curricular activities.
The latest purchase has been a
brand new minibus.
The QPT's many fund raising
ventures underline the strong co-operation between staff
and parents.
