Subsidiary / Advanced Level Courses
Applied Advanced Level and National
Diploma courses are offered as follows :
Advanced
Subsidiary/Advanced level Courses - Two Years
A student wishing to start an
AS/A2 course should have achieved higher grade GCSEs including
Mathematics and English. In the actual subjects that you
wish to study at AS or A2 Level, GCSE Grades A*, A or B
are recommended, however, each student will be considered
individually.
We would expect the majority of
students to choose four AS subjects to study in Year 12.
For this, students need to have achieved seven A* - C
grades at GCSE with four A* - B grades in the proposed
subjects.

Two Year Diplomas and OCR Nationals Courses
BTEC First Courses - One Year
Students
wishing to follow a one year BTEC course should have satisfactorily
completed compulsory education to the age of sixteen.
BTEC courses develop the knowledge,
understanding and skills needed for broad areas of work
and prepare students for further study. They are equivalent
to four GCSE passes at grades A* - C.
Courses available at Level 2 are based on student demands.
Whether
a course is offered in a subject depends each year
on estimates of likely student demand. It is, therefore,
important that students clearly identify at an early stage,
what they wish to study in Years 12 and 13. Every
effort can then be made to enable students to follow their
chosen course. However, insufficient numbers, timetabling
constraints and the pattern of student choice may prevent
all requests being met. Adjustments in choice pattern
may therefore be necessary in July and September.
